Notes to Self: Nevertheless, We Create
When the world is heavy
and when it is soft.
When the news aches
and when joy is hard to find.
We create.
When creation feels urgent—
a lifeline, a language for survival.
And when it feels unnecessary, indulgent,
a quiet luxury in a burning world.
We create.
When the body is tired.
And the heart is tender.
When grief sits at the table.
And when hope greets us.
We create.
We create in the dark—
not to escape it,
but to light a match.
We create in the light—
not to celebrate ourselves,
but to remember how we got here.
We create when it matters.
We create when it doesn’t seem to.
We create when no one is watching.
We create when no one is clapping.
Because creating is how we show up.
How we persist.
How we refuse to disappear.
Not because it’s easy.
Not because it’s productive.
Not because it fixes everything.
But because it keeps us human.
It keeps us listening.
It keeps something alive—
in us, and between us.
The world turns.
The seasons change.
The moment passes.
And nevertheless, we create.
Nevertheless, we create.
